Information we collect and how we use it

In order to provide our full range of services, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Information you provide — When you register as an attendee for Anime Expo® or other Anime Expo® service or promotion that requires registration, we ask you for personal information (such as name, email address, physical address, etc.). For certain services, such as our pre-registration process, we also request credit card or other payment account information that we maintain in encrypted form on secure servers. We may combine the information you submit under your account with information from other Anime Expo® services or third parties in order to provide you with a better experience and to improve the quality of our services. For certain services, we may give you the opportunity to opt out of combining such information.
  • Log information — When you access Anime Expo® services, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.
  • User communications — When you send email or other communications to Anime Expo® and its representatives, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
  • Affiliated sites — We offer some of our services in connection with other web sites. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to Anime Expo® in order to deliver the service. We process such information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Anime Expo® processes personal information on our servers in the United States of America and in other countries. In some cases, we process personal information on a server outside your own country. Choices for personal information

When you sign up for a particular service that requires registration, we ask you to provide personal information. If we use this information in a manner different than the purpose for which it was collected, then we will ask for your consent prior to such use.

Anime Expo® only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Anime Expo® in the following limited circumstances:

If Anime Expo® becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, we will provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal, non-personal information, such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you individually.

Accessing and updating personal information

When you use Anime Expo® services, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort. National Pre-Registration Sweepstakes Rules/Regulations

“National Pre-Registration Sweepstakes” NO PURCHASE NECESSARY to enter. Sweepstakes open to al legal residents of the 50 US States and D.C. age 18 or older. Subject to National Pre-Registration Sweepstakes Rules/Regulations.

OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

  1. ELIGIBILITY: Anime Expo® Pre-Registration Sweepstakes (”Promotion”) is open to individual legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation and Anime Expo® and Anime Expo® Official Partners, each of their respective affiliates, and each of their respective employees, directors, shareholders, officers, members, assigns, agents, judges, advertising and promotion agencies and persons residing in the same households of each of these individuals, whether related or not (”Released Parties”), are ineligible to enter or win. All applicable federal, state and local laws apply. Void where prohibited by law.
  2. HOW TO ENTER: Complete the official attendee pre-registration form available at www.anime-expo.org. Click on “Register,” and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed. You must provide all information requested to receive an entry into the Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes begins at 12:00:01 AM (ET) on March 1, 2009, and ends at 11:59:59 PM (ET) on June 30, 2009 (”Promotion Period”). Limit one entry per person/household/email address/per day. In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the holder of the e-mail account. Use of automated devices not valid for entry. Entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be returned.
    • Registration requires an entry code. In the event a consumer purchases an pre-registration attendance without a code, or if a consumer would like to enter without purchasing a pre-registration attendance, a free code is available via a mail request to Anime Expo® 2009 Pre-Registration Sweepstakes, 1733 S. Douglass Road, Suite F; Anaheim, CA 92806.
  3. SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS: Monthly Prize Winners will be determined from all eligible entries received in a random drawing to be conducted on or about the end of each month by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation the official judging organization (”Administrator”), whose decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Winner will be notified by e-mail. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
  4. PRIZES: A selection of prizes will include at least one or more of the following-Anime or Anime related DVD, Anime themed trading cards, GUNDAM models, apparel, Gaia Online promotional items, t-shirts and other assortment of anime prized goods.
  5. PRIZE RESTRICTIONS: Sponsor or its representative reserves the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value in the event offered prize or any portion thereof becomes unavailable for any reason. No other substitution or transfer of prize permitted. If the actual value of the prize is less than the stated ARV, the difference will not be awarded. Any depiction of prize is for illustrative purposes only. Prize elements may not be separated. Sponsor responsible only for prize delivery; not responsible for prize utility, quality or otherwise. Winners are solely responsible for all applicable income taxes including federal, state, and local taxes on prize and any expenses not listed herein relating to acceptance and use of prize.
  6. ADDITIONAL TERMS: By participating, a participant (and if less than the age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of primary residence, his/her parent or legal guardian) agrees (and agrees to confirm in writing if requested) to a) the Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects; and to b) release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties and any others engaged in the development, production or distribution of promotion materials for this Promotion from any and all liabilities, claims and/or damages arising out of his/her/their participation in the Sweepstakes and/or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a prize. The Released Parties are not responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, misdirected, garbled, undelivered or otherwise ineligible registrations, e-mail, messages and/or other transmissions related to this Promotion. The Released Parties shall not be responsible for typographical, human and/or other errors, or for any electronic, network, computer or other technical malfunctions. Proof of submitting entries will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. The Promotion is not affiliated, associated or endorsed by any other party. Sponsor may disqualify any participant if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said participant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other participants or Sponsor representatives. If for any reason this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including, but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the promotion, then Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion and to a select winner from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of such action. In the event that the Promotion has to be cancelled for any reason, a notice will be posted on the website and the prize will be awarded in a random drawing from among all eligible sweepstakes entries already received. Any attempt by a participant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor/Administrator reserve the right to seek damages from any such participant to the fullest extent of the law. By entering, each participant (and if less than the age of majority, his/her parent or legal guardian) agrees that all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, participant’s rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Florida, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the Florida or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the Florida. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
